The Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley is pleased to announce the opening of an exciting new exhibit presented in conjunction with Port Alberni’s Centennial Celebrations.Titled “Centennial Inspirations” the exhibit merges our heritage and arts culture. Local artists were invited to create original art works inspired by historical photographs from the collection of the Alberni Valley Museum. The result is a stunning exhibit of mixed media by 24 talented artists.
Earlier in the year 24 artists selected at random, a photograph of a historical local scene depicting our community in 1912, or a photograph of a 1912 artifact. They then created an original piece inspired by the image in that photo. The 24 artworks create a very unique showcase of different styles and techniques and are displayed alongside the historical photograph with a statement by each artist explaining their process and inspiration.
Explore a glimpse into Port Alberni’s past and discover the talent and creativity of some of our artists through this exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre Gallery.Take advantage of our free admission and we are wheelchair accessible.
